A native of Shanghai, Wang Wei has built a career as a TV reporter, anchor, director and producer.  She has received numerous awards throughout her career. As an anchor, she has been recognized as one of China’s Top 10 TV anchors and won the Golden Prize of “Golden Mike Award”, the top national award for an anchorperson in China. As a producer, she won an award as one of the nation’s 100 best producers in 2004. She is also an award winning documentary filmmaker. She won an award for “Best Documentary Films of Young Directors in Asia” held by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) in 1995 and in 1996, her film “Together again--Across the Taiwan Strait” was nominated and screened at the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.

In 2005, Wei was invited by the U.S. Department of State to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program.

She had produced and anchored “News Perspective,” from 2001 to 2006, covering major events in China and abroad.  In 2007, Wang Wei won one academic year Knight Fellowship award at Stanford University.

Wang Wei is temporarily the Executive Vice President of Suncas TV (Suncast Network), located in Illinois, USA.  She is in charge of running TV production and IPTV market development. Wei is also the chief anchor.  Suncas TV Chinese Station focuses on the coverage of Chinese mainland.
In addition to a career in broadcast and media, Wang Wei is also a writer. She has published more than 180,000 words of essays, film commentary, features on various high class newspapers, magazines, academic journals in Shanghai and Beijing. She contributed to the “TV Arts Dictionary” published by the Shanghai Technology publication house in 1989.

Wang Wei is on the board members of both China TV Artists Association and Anchor Commission – China Broadcasting Film Association.

Wang Wei received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Arts from Fu Dan University.
