Students Connect Across Borders to Report on Millennium Development Goals in Cities

UM students connect globally to report on UN MDGs in cities. Sonam Sharma, a seven year old girl living in the slums of Kolkata, attends two different primary schools and makes shoelaces before and after school. Many children from this slum are involved in making shoes and shoelaces and their parents do not allow them to go to school as they must work. Education sets Sonam apart from her peers.

University of Miami School of Communication students are working with Knight Center Resident Professional Tom Kennedy and Knight Chair Rich Beckman, along with students, educators and journalists around the world to tell multimedia stories on the UN Millennium Development Goals.
