In September, 2000, 189 member countries of the United Nations adopted the Millennium Development Goals with specific milestones for poverty alleviation by 2015. The challenges are enormous but can be accomplished by combining national and international efforts. Currently dozens of villages have been established in Africa. Haiti’s impoverished Central Plateau is next on the list.
